Biography of Lo Pik Han, Julia
Lo
Pik Han was born in Hong Kong. She is a Chinese painting artist
experimenting and practicing with a range of traditional and modernized
techniques in Chinese ink and color. She graduated from the Fine
Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1985
and was awarded the Master Degree of Educational Studies in Monash
University, Melbourne, Australia in 1996.
She
studied western painting at an early age and later altered her
path of artistic pursuit to Chinese landscape painting. Her paintings
are characterized by a colorful, poetic and harmonious style.
She has also embodied the elements of western paintings such as
the manifestation of light, shade, color and reflection to enhance
the sense of modernity in her Chinese painting. Meanwhile she
still preserves the essence of tradition through composition and
the use of brushstrokes.
Through
her painting, she is able to express her close affinity with nature
in mountains, forests and streams. The spirit of her imagination
is captured in the skilful brush strokes and merging areas of
color and ink, to create a peaceful and relaxing vision of natural
environment.
